Doe's any one really take PitchFork seriously?

jaded 20-30-somethings who think music is at it's peak when it includes semi-humorous conceptual lyrics about a field mouse and panpipes solos, tambourines and sitar, but it isn't embarrassing, because they did it ironically.

all in all it doesn't deserve to be taken seriously, their writers don't trust any form of sincerity from anyone else (unless it occurs on a re-issue of an album which was released before their site was operating, and is already established as a classic, then it's okay.) The way they review any record outside of the "underground indie" slum comes of horribly condescending, like a cross between a sociologist observing a tribal culture and someone's father trying to talk to them about modern music, whilst constantly thinking "this is derivative shit, not like the real article, back when I was young".

Nostalgia can a dangerous defect sometimes. They certainly are an irratation. If their taste in music was to be place in a mathematical equation I think it would look like this
